  • Classical Ballet

The technique of classical ballet is learned and perfected in a highly structured daily regime of classroom work. It is here that technique is maintained, strengthened and constantly refined.

  • Contemporary Ballet

In addition to classical techniques, our students study contemporary techniques. Our contemporary classes draw from both modern dance and classical ballet for its training method.

  • Pas de Deux

Moorland students learn how to respect and work with others and are able to become confident with partnering skills.

  • Character, Folk and Spanish Dance

Character dance is integral to much of the classical ballet repertoire. The students study Spanish dance in the form of Flamenco and Danza. Estilizada.

  • Choreography

Classes develop the imagination and creative response in each dancer, and an understanding of the choreographic process.

  • Strength and Body Conditioning

Various forms of cross training are used to strengthen and loosen muscles as well as aligning the body and helping to prevent injury.

Private Education

Students enrolled on to the Moorland International Ballet Academy programme have access to a private school education, either as a day student or as a boarding student. This is a partnership between parents, Moorland School and the Ballet Academy.

The aim is to equip each student with an outstanding ballet programme of study, alongside a comprehensive academic curriculum, whilst ensuring they are safe, happy and growing in confidence.

Associate Classes

The programme provides non syllabus masterclasses for boys and girls aged from 7 years. The aim is to provide an opportunity for like-minded children to meet and share their passion.

The programme has been created to complement the student’s current training enabling them to continue to study with their regular dance teacher, whilst experiencing an insight into vocational training.

Summer School

This intensive and stimulating course is for students studying dance who wish to improve their technical and performance skills, and will include classes in classical ballet, body conditioning, classical repertoire, classical solos and contemporary. The course culminates in a short demonstration of work for parents and teachers.

Students are divided into groups according to age and ability. Accommodation for all residential students will be provided in the boarding houses at Moorland School, or students are welcome to attend on a daily basis.
