Entering the critical years of a dancer’s development, the academies’ own carefully designed holistic training methodology covers all aspects of training. Students on the Pre-Professional Course are aged 14-16 and work towards high standards of technique and artistry whilst developing a sound understanding of correct muscle usage.

 

Our directors put in place training and practices recognised by the world’s top dance companies, preparing all our students for a clear pathway into a career in dance.

VOCATIONAL
PRE-PROFESSIONAL

Dance & Education Combined

Students aged 14-16 train full-time in classical ballet alongside a full range of GCSE options. Our ballet classes are integrated into the academic timetable, with admission onto the course via audition only.

 

Students receive a bespoke programme with the benefits of limited admissions resulting in small class sizes. Focusing on quality of over quantity allows our teachers  to work closely with students and allows for personal mentoring time and individual technique coaching.

 

On completing the course students are trained to the highest pre-professional level are ready to graduate to a Professional Vocational Course.

Key Areas
of Study

Classical Ballet

Students learn the formalised movements and positions of the arms, feet, and body designed to enable the dancer to move with the greatest possible agility, control, speed, lightness, and grace.

Contemporary Dance

A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.

Pas de Deux

A duet. Our students learn how to respect and work with others and are able to become confident with partnering skills.

CHARACTER and FOLK DANCE

Character dance is a specific subdivision of classical dance. It is the stylised representation of a traditional folk or national dance.

CHOREOGRAPHY CLASSES

Classes develop the imagination and creative response in each dancer, and an understanding of the choreographic process.

STRENGTH AND BODY CONDITIONING

Classes involve exercises that target the whole body, using lots of different muscles to strengthen, shape, and tone.

DRAMA

Students need to learn specific character roles, this is a facet of theatre and drama in ballet and dance.

CLASSICAL AND CONTEMPORARY REPERTOIRE/SOLOS

Focused tutelage on both classical technique and contemporary repertoire. Solo work is guided and honed.

Considered Development & Holistic Growth

The course offers students with exceptional potential the foundational resources to become professional classical ballet dancers. Students receive a bespoke programme with the benefits of small classes. This enables teachers to work closely with pupils and allow for personal mentoring time and individual technique coaching.

 

A weekly Enhancement class in either Contemporary, Jazz, Character Dance and Drama are constructed to ensure versatility in preparation for the demands of professional ballet companies. Students are set termly projects in Anatomy, Nutrition and Dance studies. Students may also be invited to pursue supplementary classes in Pilates and I.S.T.D Vocational Grades.

 

Students have the opportunity to perform in the annual choreographic competition, the Ballet Academy end of year performance and charity events around the community. Students may also be selected to compete at the Youth American Grand Prix.

Operating directly within a private secondary school with boarding facilities allows our students to not only maximise their training and studio time, but also to ensure they remained focused on their traditional studies.

Focused on academic excellence, our students not only thrive in a curriculum filled with dance but are also educated within a facility that encourages growth and success. All our ballet students take advantage of a full education curriculum within the specialised Moorland Private School campus.

Clear Career Progression Pathways

Students aged 11-14 train full-time in classical ballet alongside their regular academic studies. Our ballet classes are integrated into the academic timetable, with admission onto the course via audition only.

 

Students receive a bespoke programme with the benefits of limited admissions resulting in small class sizes. Focusing on quality of over quantity allows our teachers  to work closely with students and allows for personal mentoring time and individual technique coaching.

 

Students attend a Ballet technique class each weekday and Saturday mornings, continued attention is given to co-ordination, musicality and artistry. Students focus on a deeper understanding of posture and alignment, and are encouraged to become intelligent, self-motivated, confident dancers, whom are aware of their bodies.
