08 Dec Moorland Ballet Academy Students Dance at Cecchetti Society Centenary Gala
Whilst most students have been enjoying a restful half-term break, students of Moorland Ballet Academy, Clitheroe, have been rehearsing, preparing and dreaming about performing at the Cecchetti Society Centenary Gala. A spectacular event hosted by Cecchetti Society Trust at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and opened by Kevin O’Hare CBE, Director of The Royal Ballet Company, this year’s event celebrated the founding of the Cecchetti Society by Cyril Beaumont and Maestro Enrico Ceccehetti, one hundred years ago.
Spectators and ballet companies nationally and globally came together on Tuesday evening to watch dancers who have benefited from the genius of Cecchetti’s ideals of teaching and training. Many of the dancers have trained over decades to the same standards Cecchetti set, reaching the peak of their careers on stage. We are very proud that amongst the professional dancers such as Principal Guest Artist Brandon Lawrence of Birmingham Royal Ballet, Moorland Ballet Academy students were invited to perform and enjoy the celebration alongside English National Ballet School and KS Dance.
After the performance, the audience was invited to join Cecchetti Society Trustees for a celebration in the Linbury Theatre Foyer. Lynsey Kidd, Moorland Ballet Academy Director, said ‘We are incredibly proud of our wonderful students for their drive, determination and hard-work this evening. They have received the utmost praise from both Society Trustees and professional dancers and we couldn’t be happier for them.’
Moorland Ballet Academy Director, Lynsey Kidd collaborated with Cecchetti Examiner and Royal Ballet School Alumni, Gillian Hurst, in skillfully teaching the method and developing the performance. Ceccheti’s work has become an integral part of teaching at Moorland Ballet Academy and in major ballet companies and schools globally. Moorland Ballet Academy incorporates Cecchetti style and quality in training each year and invites aspiring classical ballet dancers to apply for Autumn admissions.
